7. 2015 has been a year in which Virgin Unite has worked to raise awareness about abolishing the death penalty globally. Our case has mainly been focused around the plight of Oklahoma State Prison death-row inmate, Richard Glossip, who we believe was wrongly accused. I had the opportunity to speak to Richard on the phone. His strength and resolve moved me. Despite almost facing lethal injection three times, Richard held his head high in the hope that his case would be used to drive future change. Thank you Richard.

aarzu got a gift of a really cool mix-n-match watch set the other day from jibran's mom returning from saudi arabia. the past few days she's very excited in choosing the different shades to wear to school. today morning i asked her, "look lady, you are wearing a different watch to school everyday now, what if your teacher asks like, 'you're having so many watches girl, is your father so rich?' what will you say?" she thought for 15 seconds and shot back, "i'll say my cousin's father is rich"

i read today about an ambitious plan to reduce paper usage. imo the first place could be schools - first start with the influencers, meaning managements and teaching professionals and then to the vips, meaning the students for effective implementation disclaimer: it has been remarked that children in our home carry quite heavy bags to school

The distance between 14 months of age and 18 months of age is extraordinary. Around 14 months, toddlers think that because they like something, the whole world likes the same thing—as summed up in the “Toddler’s Creed”: If I want it, it is mine. If I give it to you and change my mind later, it is mine. If I can take it away from you, it is mine. If we are building something together, all of the pieces are mine. If it looks just like mine, it is mine. If it is mine, it will never belong to anybody else, no matter what. If it is yours, it is mine. Around 18 months, it dawns on babies that this viewpoint may not always be accurate. They begin to learn that adage that most newlyweds have to relearn in spades: “What is obvious to you is obvious to you.” - taken from Brain Rules for the Baby

this birthday, between my work, aarzu commandeered me to the nearby shop and we bought a pair of rackets and a shuttlecork. for the first time ever in history we played badminton together (we've played football, cricket and carron before). i played all my zuzi zuzanti shots. aarzu replied with sanita williams (sic) shots. next day she wanted to change her shot name to sunita williams shot. i said nothing doing. we'll stick with sanita williams. we both agreed. of course it was lot of fun. i also showed her the famous shuttle champion - gurupada rao's shot. yesterday at our tuitions we had a blast with "gimme all your love" number from alabama shakes. the kids found it a little funny to see a sweetly animated brittany howard belting out the number with great spiff. the evening ended with raucous guffaws for a start. I am placing my heartfelt thanks before all for the touching birthday wishes and wish everyone season's greetings. thank you.

lot of people decided that if everybody becomes good it will be good for everybody's sake. many people agreed to it quickly and became good. some people differed but soon they also agreed. being good means being good okay, not anything else. so one fine day it came to be known that there was only one boy who was bad and he was known to be a very bad boy. the best good people went together to meet the very bad boy and asked him to join all the good people. the very bad boy said "i'll join you people on one condition, you should all become bad boys like me" since the good people were really good the argument went on for a long time before the very bad boy became the very good boy. "mein ruthiya yaar manawangi har chilman phoonk jalawangi jad patthar ranjha pighlega tad mein kamli kehlawangi tad mein kamli kehlawangi mere mahiya sanam janam ki mein kariya nami danam shab guzri tey jag soya ni mein jagiya nami danam"

one of friends shared images of brutal retribution for a person accused of sexual assault on a person of opposite sex on my page. i do not endorse such medieval punishments for the reason that if a wrong person is punished it is very wrong for a good state to rest on such a miscarriage of justice - after all this person is no only wronged but all persons associated with him are wronged. i respect people's sentiments for what they are, but in some states cruelty is fed to the masses periodically in public executions to keep them on edge and reap their monster-like behavior as and when needed. with this kind of policies public will only yearn for more offences and more killings just to satiate their collective conscience that they are above board on their morality. i am not offended by such posts because i can do a "jhelo" act very well. sexual abuse has very deep roots in the history of mankind and this kind of barbarism will only make people to not be bold about things that matter. one can show umpteen images like this and it doesn't change anything. we should only strive for ramrajya of mkg where a young girl can venture out into the dark night without any fear of her safety.

making a post/share of an innocuously sweet child with a toothy smile is very satisfying for some even without likes. however i just pondered over this question of likes and wondered if there are anybody who made such a post - akin to going into a room and getting locked and feel a bit suffocated that nobody called on with a like (vindication of your taste, a motivation)
